Partial Amendment to the Student Traffic Safety Ordinance Passes Committee Review
The partial amendment ordinance to the "Jeollanam-do Office of Education Student Traffic Safety Ordinance," proposed by Choi Mugyeong, a member of the Jeollanam-do Provincial Council (Democratic Party of Korea, Yeosu 4), passed the review of the Education Committee at the 387th extraordinary session on the 6th.
This ordinance expands the scope of application to include roads surrounding schools and focuses on establishing a sustainable traffic safety system. Once the revised ordinance is finalized, comprehensive traffic safety measures covering both schools and nearby roads will be implemented, further strengthening the safety of students during their commute to and from school.
Choi stated, "To enhance traffic safety for students, systematic measures that consider not only actions within schools but also the surrounding roads are necessary," adding, "Through this ordinance amendment, a safer commuting environment will be created."
He continued, "If the ordinance passes, Jeollanam-do, cities and counties, the police agency, and nonprofit organizations will work together to promptly implement traffic safety policies, and we will do our best to ensure this," emphasizing, "We will continue to prioritize the development of policies that put students' safety first."
The proposed amendment is scheduled for final approval at the second plenary session on the 14th.
