50% Discount on Two Months of Fees
Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 6th that it will reduce water and sewage fees by 50% for local residents affected by the heavy snowfall last November.
This measure follows the declaration of a special disaster area due to the heavy snowfall, and 50% of the fees for the billing period of February (usage from December 2024 to January 2025) will be discounted.
The beneficiaries are 3,195 water and sewage users in the snow-damaged areas registered in the National Disaster Management System (NDMS). Considering that most of the affected areas are farmland without water facilities, the city plans to include the addresses of affected residents in the discount target to ensure that as many residents as possible can benefit.
Households omitted from this disaster application and excluded from the water fee reduction can receive additional discounts through a separate application and verification process.
Jung Jang-seon, mayor of Pyeongtaek, said, "I hope this fee reduction can help ease the financial burden of the affected residents even a little," adding, "We will continue to strive to provide active and prompt support to citizens affected by disasters."
