The Iksan City Public Health Center in North Jeolla Province announced on the 6th that it will operate the "1st Adult Obesity and Proper Weight Management Class" from the 17th of this month to May 16th.
This weight management class is designed to prevent metabolic syndrome caused by adult obesity and to promote proper weight management. It will be held four times a week at the physical activity room of the health center.
Main activities include personalized exercise guidance by a professional exercise prescriber and dietary guidance by a nutritionist.
Eligibility is limited to adults aged 19 to 59, with women required to have a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or higher, and men a BMI of 30 or higher. A total of 20 participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Those wishing to participate must have a telephone consultation and then visit the health center by the 14th to measure basic physical fitness, body composition (InBody), blood pressure, and blood sugar.
Following the first session, the Obesity and Proper Weight Management Class will continue with the second and third sessions until the end of the year. For more details, please contact the Health Projects Division.
Lee Jinyun, Director of the Public Health Center, said, "Obesity is the greatest risk factor for the development of metabolic syndrome such as hypertension and diabetes," and added, "We ask for your interest and participation in this program, which helps prevent disease and promotes healthy living."
