[Exclusive] Even the Ministry of Science and ICT, the AI Main Department, Blocks Access to DeepSeek

The Ministry of Science and ICT, the main government agency for artificial intelligence (AI), has also blocked access to China's generative AI 'DeepSeek.' On the 6th, a Ministry of Science and ICT official stated, "Minister Yusang-im instructed this morning that the Ministry of Science and ICT will block access to DeepSeek until security and personal information issues are resolved."

Although there was an internal sentiment that it is contradictory for the Ministry of Science and ICT, which formulates AI policies and supports AI companies, to block access to generative AI including DeepSeek and not use it, the Ministry decided to block access due to various security and information leakage concerns.

Earlier, on the 3rd, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the National Intelligence Service sent security guidelines to all central government ministries and metropolitan local governments, advising not to input sensitive information when using generative AI such as DeepSeek and OpenAI.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of National Defense have taken measures to block access to DeepSeek.
