Steady Sharing Activities for Local Students and Community Development

Donations for scholarships to nurture talent for the future of students in the Pohang area continue to be made to the Pohang City Scholarship Foundation.

On the 5th, Daejin Fisheries, a local seafood specialist company, and the Naeyeonsan Commercial Association located in Songra-myeon, Buk-gu, each donated 5 million won and 2 million won, respectively.

Koo Sang-mo, CEO of Daejin Fisheries, said, “While looking for ways to practice sharing in the local community, we decided to donate scholarships to the Pohang Scholarship Foundation,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to realize social value through various social contribution activities in harmony with the local community.”

Founded in 1997, Daejin Fisheries is a seafood specialist company that contributes to increasing fishermen’s income and the development of the fisheries industry by creating jobs in the local community, improving production environments, and releasing juvenile fish to enhance fishing ground productivity.

Also, on the same day, the donation from the Naeyeonsan Commercial Association was prepared from the profits of the ‘Excellent Ingredient Joint Purchase Support Project,’ which is carried out as a continuous social contribution activity. This marks the third consecutive year of steady sharing following 2023 and last year, adding more significance to the donation.

Jo Seung-hyun, president of the Naeyeonsan Commercial Association, said, “We are pleased to be able to donate scholarships for local students this year as well, following 2023 and 2024,” and added, “We will continue various social contribution activities to develop together with the local community.”

The Naeyeonsan Commercial Association is a group of business owners who provide various local specialties and healthy food to tourists visiting Naeyeonsan and Bokyungsa Temple, leading not only to the revitalization of the local economy but also to the spread of a culture of sharing.

Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, “We deeply appreciate the meaningful scholarship donations made for nurturing local talent,” and added, “Based on this precious support, we will help more students achieve their dreams.”
