Customized Collection for Large Local Tax Delinquents Over 3 Million KRW
On the 6th, Ulsan Ulju-gun announced that it will form a joint task force dedicated to collecting large overdue taxes and promote a responsibility collection system.
The joint collection task force is composed of employees from the Delinquent Mobile and Delinquent Settlement teams within the Tax Division 2 of Ulju-gun, organized into two teams. They have established a detailed plan to achieve a year-end settlement target of 8 billion KRW through customized collection efforts for delinquent taxpayers with local taxes overdue by 3 million KRW or more.
As of January 1, there are 757 delinquent taxpayers in Ulju-gun with overdue amounts of 3 million KRW or more. The total overdue amount is 14 billion KRW, accounting for 63.9% of the carried-over delinquent amount of 21.9 billion KRW.
The collection task force will focus on newly identified large delinquent taxpayers, encouraging them first and securing claims early to minimize the delinquency period. For habitual and large delinquent taxpayers, strong administrative sanctions such as travel bans, public disclosure of names, and restrictions on licensed businesses will be enforced through special management collection activities.
In addition, for delinquent taxpayers who evade taxes intelligently and those who commit offenses such as evading delinquent disposition, plans include tracking hidden assets using Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) information, conducting house searches, and filing complaints.
They intend to collect overdue amounts through various delinquent disposition methods such as rapid asset seizure and public auction, while simultaneously suspending collection on uncollectible delinquent amounts due to lack of assets.
An Ulju-gun official stated, “We will do our best to maintain fairness with sincere taxpayers and realize tax justice through thorough management of large delinquent taxpayers.”
