Park Ji-won to Police Personnel Chief Choi: "Only Blinded by Personal Gain... Must Cancel Promotion Party for Insurrection Forces"

Park Ji-won, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, urged Choi Sang-mok, Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, to cancel the police personnel appointments.

On the 6th, Park criticized on Facebook, "Is the President of the Republic of Korea still the ringleader of the rebellion, Yoon Seok-yeol?" and said, "The police personnel appointments are not just shocking but a promotion feast for the rebel forces that would make one faint."

He especially directed harsh words at Acting Prime Minister Choi, saying, "This is too much," and added, "Ignoring the people's livelihood prices that should be addressed, you are blinded by personal gain and only making appointments for the rebel leader Yoon Seok-yeol Season 2."

Park emphasized the call to cancel the police personnel appointments. He said, "History and the people will punish you," and "Acting Prime Minister Choi stands at the very front of that." He further urged, "I repeatedly call for the cancellation of the personnel appointments to eradicate the rebel forces and to restore the morale of the police."

Meanwhile, on the 5th, the government appointed Park Hyun-soo, Director of the Police Bureau at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, as the new Commissioner General. This is the first high-ranking police personnel appointment since the emergency martial law situation, and Park is expected to take over as the Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, a position left vacant after the indictment and detention of former Commissioner Kim Bong-sik. Director Park graduated from the 10th class of the Korean National Police University. He has served as Director of the Police Intelligence Bureau, Head of the Police Crisis Management Center, and Chief of the Seoul Gwangjin Police Station. Under the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, he was dispatched to the Personnel Verification Team of the Presidential Transition Committee and the Office of National Affairs in the Presidential Office, and was appointed as Director of the Police Bureau at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. The rank of Commissioner General is just below the Commissioner of the National Police Agency. Except for the National Investigation Headquarters Chief, whose term is guaranteed, there are six positions including Deputy Commissioner of the National Police Agency and Commissioner of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
