Donald Trump, the President of the United States, who plans to take control of the Gaza Strip and develop it into a resort area, has also shown interest several times in North Korea's coastal development, drawing attention to future developments.
On the 4th (local time), after a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Trump held a press conference where he announced that the U.S. would take control of the Gaza Strip and turn it into the Riviera of the Middle East (a Mediterranean resort). His plan involves relocating the residents of Gaza and taking control of foreign territory.
Regarding the Gaza Strip plan, analysts note that it closely resembles the deals Trump has pursued throughout his life as a real estate developer.
This perspective of President Trump is also applied to North Korea.
Shortly after taking office, on the 20th of last month, he mentioned the possibility of a summit with North Korea and revealed that during the past Singapore North Korea-U.S. summit, he had advised Chairman Kim Jong-un to build condominiums along the coast.
President Trump said, "I think he (Kim Jong-un) has tremendous condo potential," adding, "He has a lot of coastline."
President Trump has previously praised North Korea's real estate location on several occasions.
CNN criticized Trump's real estate deal-oriented plan as a form of 21st-century colonialism.
The New York Times (NYT) pointed out that President Trump is pushing a blatant idea of redrawing the world map according to the 19th-century imperialist tradition, ignoring the fact that the U.S. has no legal authority to unilaterally control another country's territory and that forcibly relocating an entire population violates international law.
