Coverage Includes Medical Expenses for Dog Bite Accidents and More
On the 4th, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will operate the 'Citizen Safety Insurance' this year by partially reorganizing the coverage items to ensure that citizens who suffer damage from disasters or safety accidents can receive compensation.
The coverage items include ▲death from natural disasters ▲death from social disasters (excluding infectious diseases) ▲death from injury (excluding traffic injuries) ▲injury diagnosis lump sum ▲death from injury caused by explosion, fire, collapse, or landslide (including sequelae) ▲death from injury while using public transportation (including sequelae and chartered buses) ▲death from injury due to robbery (including sequelae) ▲treatment expenses for injuries from traffic accidents in school zones ▲death from agricultural machinery accidents (including sequelae) ▲death from gas accidents (including sequelae) ▲compensation for injuries from sexual violence crimes ▲burn surgery expenses ▲death from toxic substances ▲medical treatment expenses for hospital or clinic visits due to dog bite accidents ▲death from injury caused by dog bites (including sequelae).
A city official stated, "This year's Citizen Safety Insurance is characterized by the expanded coverage for medical treatment expenses related to dog bite accidents," and added, "We also plan to strengthen publicity to prevent cases where citizens cannot receive compensation from the Citizen Safety Insurance in the future."
The maximum coverage amount is 15 million KRW, and the claim period is within three years from the date of the accident. Any citizen registered as a resident in Icheon City is automatically enrolled and can receive insurance benefits for damages corresponding to the coverage items.
