Na Kyung-won "Imperial Presidency? Who Is the Real Emperor Now?"... Direct Hit at the Democratic Party

"Dictatorship of the Overwhelming Opposition... Who Is the Real Emperor?"
"Negotiations for National Assembly Organization Must Be Demanded Again"

Na Kyung-won, a member of the People Power Party, argued that constitutional revision is necessary and directly criticized the Democratic Party of Korea to hand over the position of the Chairperson of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee to the People Power Party.

On the 4th, Na opened her remarks on her social media account by saying, "They say a special committee on constitutional amendment should be formed, that the 1987 Constitution needs to end, and that the presidential system of imperial presidency provokes extreme clashes between the ruling and opposition parties." She stated, "I am in favor of a four-year renewable term system. National reform is insufficient with five years, and reform tasks looking ahead ten years clearly show the limitations of a single-term system." However, she questioned, "Looking at the current state of national governance, it is far from an imperial presidency. The national administration has been paralyzed by the overwhelming opposition party's parliamentary dictatorship, the president is undergoing impeachment trial while suspended and detained, yet the opposition party leader is acting as the president. Who is truly the emperor?"

She continued, "The government organization law, including the president’s first campaign pledge to abolish the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, has not been amended. Through unilateral budget cuts, some functions of the presidential office, prosecution investigations, and police investigations have been neutralized." She pointed out, "In the United States, when the president changes, 30,000 positions change simultaneously, and sometimes civil servants pack up with a single word. In Korea, public institution heads appointed just before the previous president’s term ended are still entrenched." She then argued, "Now, constitutional revision to check the imperial parliament of the majority ruling party should come first. Improvements to the impeachment system that enable serial impeachments and the establishment of the president’s right to dissolve the parliament are necessary."

However, Na emphasized, "Before that, negotiations for the organization of the National Assembly must be demanded again to stop the opposition party’s unchecked parliamentary operations." Along with this, she raised her voice, saying, "The opposition party must give up the position of the Chairperson of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee." She said, "Which National Assembly holds and shakes both the Speaker and the Chairperson of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee to control the parliament at will? Representative Lee Jae-myung and Speaker Woo Won-shik are competing to push right-wing claims." She added, "Don’t just talk, push through at full speed like when passing impeachment and special investigation laws. We also agree, so it won’t even take a week." Finally, she added, "Constitutional revision to correct the imperial parliament and one-party dictatorship should come before the imperial presidency. But before that, hand over the Chairperson of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee to the People Power Party."
