Despite the stagnation in IT sector hiring, the market demand for 'AI developers' has been steadily increasing.
Edutech startup JinjiHan Company released the '2024 IT Hiring Trends' report on the 4th, containing this information. The data was analyzed through JinjiHan Company's own IT hiring market information service, 'IT Skill Trends.' They examined over 70,000 IT job postings using AI technology.
According to the analysis, overall IT hiring has shrunk by 41.3% over the past two years, showing a contraction in the market itself. While design and planning roles decreased by 48.9% and 53.7% respectively, development roles declined by 37.8%, and AI·data roles by 22.1%.
The decline in AI·data roles was relatively moderate compared to other job categories. This was interpreted as a reflection of the importance of AI·data technologies in the IT hiring market. In fact, AI developers were the only group to show an 8.2% increase amid the overall downturn in IT hiring.
Analysis of keywords in job postings revealed that the most demanded skills for AI developers recently are 'LLM (Large Language Model) utilization' and 'LangChain.' Compared to 2022, the ranking of these required skills rose by 116 and 157 places respectively. LangChain refers to a framework specialized for service development using LLM.
Park Jin-yi, co-CEO of JinjiHan Company, said, “Since the emergence of ChatGPT, the cycle of changes in the IT hiring market has accelerated and expanded, increasing the difficulties for job seekers. We will enhance our service so that current IT professionals can establish their own career strategies based on data.”
