Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH Corporation) announced on the 3rd that it held a ceremony to declare ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management, with executives and employees pledging to practice environmental management.
At the ceremony, SH Corporation President Hwang Sang-ha, Labor Union Chairman Lee Seong-jae, Labor Directors Han Seong-wook and Seol Jae-hoon, and employee representatives read aloud the environmental management policy declaration in front of all executives and employees.
The declaration included ▲compliance with environmental laws and standards ▲transparent disclosure of environmental information ▲participation in carbon neutrality and green growth basic plans ▲preservation of biodiversity and natural resources ▲minimization of environmental impact caused by business activities.
SH Corporation also published its first eco-friendly report (Green Report), which contains the mid-to-long-term ESG environmental management plan and phased implementation plan for greenhouse gas reduction from 2025 to 2030.
The report outlines the direction and plans for environmental management to be actively pursued by 2030. SH Corporation plans to actively communicate and share with stakeholders about a sustainable future through environmental management.
Notably, it became the first public institution in Korea to disclose its greenhouse gas Scope 3 emissions. Greenhouse gas scopes categorize the measurement targets and ranges: Scope 1 refers to emissions from resources directly owned and managed by the company; Scope 2 refers to emissions from electricity, steam, cooling, etc., purchased by the business operator for consumption. Scope 3 refers to indirect greenhouse gas emissions occurring throughout the entire value chain, including all activities in the lifecycle of production, distribution, use, and disposal beyond Scopes 1 and 2.
President Hwang said, "With this environmental management declaration and the publication of the Green Report, we will actively communicate with stakeholders about a sustainable future and fulfill our environmental responsibilities. We will actively practice ESG environmental management and become a leading institution."
