The CCTV Smart Integrated Control Center operated by Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, is gaining attention for playing a significant role in protecting the safety of residents through its seamless 24/7 operations throughout the year.
In the early morning of the 19th, around 3 a.m., a control officer noticed that a vehicle stopped in the left-turn lane on National Road No. 7 in Opo-ri, Ganggu-myeon, had not moved for about 10 minutes. The officer immediately reported this to the police, who arrived promptly and woke the driver, who had fallen asleep in the driver's seat, and safely moved the vehicle off the road, swiftly handling the situation.
Additionally, the center enabled a quick response to a vehicle accident that occurred last summer in Okgyegye Valley, Dalsan-myeon, through rapid reporting and accurate transmission of the scene's status. It also helped quickly locate a missing dementia patient and ensured their safe return home. During disasters such as typhoons and heavy snowfall, the center meticulously monitors areas expected to be affected, preventing damage to residents' safety and property.
In this way, the Yeongdeok-gun Integrated Control Center plays a decisive role in preventing various crimes, incidents, and accidents occurring within the jurisdiction. Especially during the recent Lunar New Year holiday, when heavy snowfall raised concerns about traffic accidents and other damages, the center promptly relayed information to relevant departments and the situation room, enabling swift and effective responses.
County Governor Kim Gwang-yeol encouraged the control officers, saying, “The officers who actively and passionately perform their duties serve as reliable guardians protecting the lives and property of our residents.” He added, “We will strive to strengthen the linkage and cooperation between the Integrated Control Center and various departments to operate more effectively.”
