Creation of a Resident Complex Cultural Community Facility in Incheon Yonghyeon-Hakik 1 Block

A multipurpose complex space for residents will be created in the Yonghyeon·Hakik 1-block urban development project area in Michuhol-gu, Incheon.

On the 3rd, Incheon City signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with DCR Co., Ltd. to implement a complex cultural community project within the Yonghyeon·Hakik 1-block urban development project area. The complex cultural community will comprehensively review location analysis, types, and scale of facilities through a basic planning service.

Based on the basic planning results, the city and DCR plan to sign a main agreement including detailed contents such as project scope, division of tasks and costs, and donation and return. Then, after basic and detailed design, the project will proceed with construction starting next year and completion targeted for 2028.

This project was prepared to provide high-quality cultural, sports, and administrative services to residents of the Yonghyeon·Hakik area and to create a multipurpose complex space for resident communication and leisure.

The Yonghyeon·Hakik 1-block urban development project is being promoted by DCR, a subsidiary of OCI (formerly Dongyang Steel Chemical), relocating the existing OCI factory and developing an area of 1.54 million square meters including the surrounding land in Hakik-dong, Michuhol-gu, with completion scheduled for 2027.

Jung Chang-hyun, CEO of DCR, said, "We are pleased to be able to continuously contribute to the local community since the social contribution donation and return agreement in 2016," and added, "We will do our best to ensure the Yonghyeon·Hakik 1-block urban development project is successfully promoted so that the area transforms from an old downtown to a new city."

Hwang Hyo-jin, Deputy Mayor for Global City Administration of Incheon City, stated, "We will actively cooperate with related organizations to ensure that the infrastructure around Yonghyeon·Hakik 1-block, such as the currently underway Grand Park (closed lime landfill), Dokbae-ro expansion, Suin Line Hakik Station, and the establishment of an elementary school, is completed on time."
