According to the city on the 3rd, the project, organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, was open for applications from local governments nationwide, with a total of 25 cities, counties, and districts selected. The city has been designated as an implementing agency for the second consecutive year, following last year, enabling the establishment of a proactive response system to prevent the occurrence of child abuse.
The "Child Abuse Prevention and Early Support Pilot Project" aims to create a safe home environment by early identification of children at risk of abuse and raising awareness for child abuse prevention. To achieve this, the project will include ▲child abuse prevention education for high-risk families ▲family function enhancement programs ▲parent education programs for proper parenting and discipline.
During the 2024 project, 20 high-risk families were selected, and through a business agreement with the Jeonnam Western Child Protection Agency, six sessions were held to strengthen family bonds and provide education on proper emotional resolution and expression. After the project was completed, all participants responded that they were very satisfied and found it helpful, according to the satisfaction survey.
A city official stated, "Child abuse is no longer an individual issue but a challenge that our entire society must address together," and added, "Through this project, we will establish a prevention-centered welfare system to create an environment where all citizens can feel safe."
