According to AFP and other sources on the 2nd (local time), President Trump told reporters at Andrews Air Force Base near Washington DC, "I don't expect anything tremendously dramatic," and said he plans to speak with the leaders of Canada and Mexico on the morning of the 3rd before imposing a 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico on the 4th.

He stated, "We have imposed tariffs, and they (Mexico and Canada) owe us a lot," adding, "I am confident they will pay (the tariffs)."

President Trump hinted that after Canada, Mexico, and China, the next target for tariffs will be the European Union (EU). When asked by reporters, "Who will be the next country to face tariffs?" he replied, "We will definitely impose new tariffs on the EU."

Furthermore, President Trump pointed out, as reported by Bloomberg, that although he could not specify a concrete timeline, it would happen soon, criticizing the EU for not importing enough American automobiles and agricultural products.
