Hong Jun-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, recently expressed strong regret over the deliberate distortion and editing of his remarks made during his appearance on MBC, which were rebroadcast as a special episode. On the 3rd, Mayor Hong posted on his social media service (SNS), "About 20 minutes cut from the special edition of 'Questions' aired yesterday mostly involved my explanations on why charges of rebellion do not apply, why the investigations and prosecutions by the prosecution and the High-ranking Officials’ Crime Investigation Agency (Gongsoocheo) are flawed, and why the court-issued arrest warrants are invalid. All these parts were intentionally deleted and edited," adding, "The parts where I explained why the court dismissed the extension of detention period and why investigation documents from the prosecution and Gongsoocheo without investigative authority are invalid were also completely deleted and edited."

He continued, "Our people told me that I should never appear on MBC, but I thought they wouldn’t go that far, so I appeared anyway. But as expected, I cannot trust MBC," and said, "It’s outrageous that they aired a rebroadcast of the live debate with biased and malicious editing." Mayor Hong had also strongly criticized the editing of the broadcast on his SNS the day before. He said, "It seems most of former Minister Yoo Si-min’s remarks were aired as they were, but much of what I said was heavily edited," and added, "Soon, an unedited video will be uploaded on the YouTube channel 'TV Hong Kakolla.' You will be able to see content that was not shown in the edited version. Please watch the unedited version and judge the current political situation."
Earlier, on the 29th of last month, Mayor Hong appeared on MBC’s 'Son Seok-hee’s Questions' for two hours starting at 8:20 p.m., discussing the impeachment situation of President Yoon with writer Yoo Si-min. The program was broadcast live on MBC and the MBC News YouTube channel, and on the 2nd, a roughly 1 hour and 30 minute edited special was aired. Currently, videos of about 35 minutes for the first half and 40 minutes for the second half are also available on the YouTube channel 'MBC PLAYGROUND.' At the beginning of the video, a subtitle reads, 'This broadcast is an edited version condensed from the 'Questions' aired on January 29, 2025.'
