Yeongju-si, Basic Public Interest Direct Payment Application and Reception for This Year

Non-face-to-face and In-person Applications Available
Supporting Farmers' Income Stability

Yeongju City, Gyeongbuk Province (Mayor Park Nam-seo) will accept applications for the 2025 Basic Public Interest Direct Payment Scheme through both non-face-to-face and in-person methods.

The Basic Public Interest Direct Payment is a subsidy provided to farmers who meet certain qualifications and comply with requirements to promote the public functions of agriculture and rural areas and to stabilize farmers' incomes.

Applications can be submitted either non-face-to-face or in-person, with the non-face-to-face application period lasting until February 28. Individual application guidance messages will be sent to farmers whose direct payment registration information from the previous year and agricultural management entity registration information for this year have not changed, allowing them to easily apply through the provided application link.

In-person applications will be accepted from March 4 to April 30. Farmers who have not applied non-face-to-face, new applicants, or those whose agricultural management information has changed must visit the administrative welfare centers in the town, township, or neighborhood where their farmland is located to apply.

Applicants are also required to check their farmland ledger and agricultural management entity registration information before applying, and if there are any changes, they must apply within the in-person application period.

Notably, from this year, the unit price for area-based direct payments has increased, raising the payment from 1 million to 2.05 million KRW per hectare to 1.36 million to 2.15 million KRW per hectare, an increase of about 5%. To reduce the payment rate gap, the unit price for non-promoted field areas has been adjusted to approximately 80% of the unit price for non-promoted paddy areas.

The city plans to verify eligibility and conduct compliance inspections starting in June, with direct payments scheduled for November.

A city official stated, “We ask all farmers to fully understand the requirements and compliance obligations for receiving the public interest direct payments and to apply within the deadline to avoid any disadvantages.”

Last year, Yeongju City contributed to stabilizing farmers' incomes by paying approximately 18.7 billion KRW in Basic Public Interest Direct Payments to 10,668 households.
