Gyeonggi Province will recruit 2,897 new public officials this year.
Gyeonggi Province announced the implementation plan for the 2025 ‘1st and 2nd Open Competitive Recruitment Exams (Grades 7, 8, and 9)’ and the ‘1st, 2nd, and 3rd Career Competitive Recruitment Exams (Researcher, Instructor, Grades 7, 8, and 9)’ on its official website (gg.go.kr) on the 3rd.
The number of recruits includes positions in the provincial government, the Provincial Council, and 31 cities, counties, and their councils. Through the open competitive recruitment exams, a total of 2,628 candidates will be selected across 24 job categories: 31 for Grade 7 and 2,597 for Grades 8 and 9. Through the career competitive recruitment exams, 269 candidates will be selected across 19 job categories: 64 researchers and instructors, 39 for Grade 7, 9 for Grade 8, and 157 for Grade 9.
Among these, Gyeonggi Province will separately select 295 persons with disabilities, 90 from low-income households, and 55 from technical high schools to expand public service opportunities for socially disadvantaged groups and diversify organizational composition.
There are also changes starting this year.
First, the question format for Korean and English subjects in the Grade 8 and 9 open competitive recruitment exams will shift from knowledge memorization to job suitability-focused questions, and the written exam duration will be extended from 100 minutes to 110 minutes.
Additionally, the certification for arborists has been added to the bonus qualifications for the green space-related job categories in the new recruitment exams, and the exam fee will be waived for applicants with two or more minor children.
For some cities and counties such as Yangju, Pocheon, and Yangpyeong, residency restrictions for the general civil engineering and architecture job categories in the open competitive recruitment exams have been relaxed, so examinees preparing for these categories should verify the details.
Meanwhile, applicants cannot register for local government public official recruitment exams held on the same date more than once. Also, one exam can only be registered with one institution.
For detailed information and the specific exam schedule, check the exam implementation plan announcements on the websites of Gyeonggi Province and the respective cities and counties, or contact the Gyeonggi Province Personnel Department Recruitment Team at 031-8008-4040, 4046, or 4047.
Lee Jeong-hwa, head of the Gyeonggi Province Personnel Department, urged, "Since there are changes such as the shift in the question format for Korean and English subjects and the relaxation of residency restrictions for some job categories, applicants should carefully review the announcement and detailed guidelines."
