101 Works Including Dancheong, Mosa, and Lacquerware on Display

The Traditional Culture Education Center of Korea National University of Cultural Heritage will hold an exhibition from the 5th to the 10th at the Insa Art Center in Jongno-gu, Seoul, showcasing works by trainees who have completed the national heritage repair technician training course. Through 101 pieces that have undergone dancheong (traditional multicolored paintwork), mosa, lacquer coating, woodworking, baechup (traditional paper mounting), metal fittings, gilding, and preservation treatment, the exhibition demonstrates the elegance of traditional crafts and the excellence of our traditional repair techniques.

The theme is "A Fresh Challenge." It conveys both the meaning that damaged national heritage gains "a new life" through repair and the sense of "saesamsureopda" (a Korean term expressing a renewed feeling) experienced when one unexpectedly appreciates traditional culture and national heritage. An official stated, "We will further devote ourselves to nurturing skilled personnel for national heritage repair through customized education to ensure the succession of traditional culture."
