Gyeonggi Province will continue the cleaning project for 'child residential poverty households' this year.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 3rd that it will carry out the ‘Child Residential Poverty Household Clean Service Support Project’ to improve the living conditions of child households living in substandard housing environments such as those below the minimum housing (area) standards or in semi-basement units, and will accept applications until March 31. The number of households eligible for support is 280.
Since 2023, Gyeonggi Province has been conducting this project for the third year with an annual budget of 840 million KRW, funded by the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s ‘Lottery Fund Public Contest Project.’
The main project contents include ‘clean services’ such as disinfection and pest control, wallpaper and flooring replacement, cleaning, and storage organization to improve the living environment and hygiene of child households, as well as support for items such as heating and cooling appliances, air purifiers, washing machines, and dryers.
Selected recipients can choose two types of housing environment improvement items (home appliances) worth about 2 million KRW and two types of clean services (including mandatory disinfection and pest control services) worth about 1 million KRW, receiving approximately 3 million KRW worth of housing environment improvement support per household.
Lee Eun-seon, Director of the Housing Policy Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Cooperation with related welfare organizations such as child welfare institutions is necessary to ensure support reaches child households in urgent need of housing environment and hygiene improvements. We will strive to discover beneficiaries in welfare blind spots and provide systematic support through the establishment of cooperative systems between each city and county and related organizations."
