Gyeonggi-do Provides 4 Million Won Support for Hanok Repair and Maintenance Costs

Gyeonggi Province will support up to 4 million KRW per house for the repair and maintenance costs of Hanok.

Gyeonggi Province announced that it will carry out the ‘Hanok Architecture Small-scale Emergency Repair Support Project’ targeting Hanok in the province that require urgent repairs such as tile replacement, leakage due to roof damage, and severe corrosion caused by wood aging. Applications for the project will be accepted from the 3rd of this month until the 14th of next month.

The support amount is up to 4 million KRW per house within half of the total construction cost.

Hanok owners who wish to apply for the project can download the application forms from the Gyeonggi Provincial Government website and submit them.

Gyeonggi Province will review the submitted documents through the Gyeonggi Architectural Committee to decide on the support eligibility and select recipients, who will be notified in April.

Park Jong-geun, Director of the Architectural Policy Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Since 2021, through the Hanok Small-scale Emergency Repair Support Project, we have been supporting the preservation of traditional Hanok and the creation of comfortable and safe living environments. Starting this year, Hanok experts will directly visit sites to provide customized technical advisory reports on Hanok maintenance, actively supporting residents who face difficulties in repairing Hanok due to a lack of specialized skills."

Meanwhile, since 2020, Gyeonggi Province has also been promoting the ‘Hanok Architecture Support Project’ together with city and county governments to support the costs of new construction and repairs of Hanok.
