Park Gang-su, the mayor of Mapo-gu, is truly a diligent mayor.
He usually spends Saturdays and Sundays alone visiting various parts of the district to check if there are any inconveniences for the residents.
This Lunar New Year holiday was no exception. On the 28th, the day before Lunar New Year, he visited the snow-covered streets of Mangwon 2-dong to check for any dangerous spots. Then, he stopped by the Yonggang-dong Community Center to encourage the staff who worked overnight spreading calcium chloride to prevent falls on the streets. He also checked the heated cable installation near Hankyoreh in Gongdeok-dong.
Finally, he toured Hongdae Red Road, his successful masterpiece, and talked with merchants. Along with this, he operated an 'On-site Mayor's Office' at the Youth Future Industry Support Center.
Mayor Park, known as the mayor who visits the field most frequently during the 8th local government term, meets residents on-site whenever he has time.
On the morning of January 31, the first day back to work after the Lunar New Year holiday, at 9 a.m. in the policy meeting room, he held a policy meeting with the heads of departments to start the new year’s resolutions and discuss major projects in Mapo-gu.
They discussed key projects for 2025, including the operation of the Mapo Circular Shuttle Bus, the opening of the Babysitter House, and the creation of a Welfare Town for the Disabled, seeking future operational plans.
On this day, Mayor Park urged the department heads, “Please carefully manage the major issues and pledges already reported by each department to ensure the happiness of our residents through your utmost efforts.”
