The Guri-Seoul Integration Promotion Committee is the Galmae-dong branch of the “Guri Becomes Seoul Pan-Citizen Promotion Committee,” the leading organization promoting Guri’s incorporation into Seoul. It was launched with Ko Beomseok and Lee Bokyung as co-chairs to promote the development of Galmae-dong and the incorporation of Guri into Seoul.

The event was attended by key figures including Baek Kyunghyun, mayor of Guri, and Lee Sangbae, Lee Chunbon, and Kwak Kyungkuk, co-chairs of the Pan-Citizen Promotion Committee (“Pan-Citizen Committee”), as well as about 300 citizens including residents of Galmae-dong, making it a great success.

The event began with a pre-ceremony performance, followed by congratulatory remarks from distinguished guests, a presentation on the current status and plans for Guri’s incorporation into Seoul, an introduction of the committee’s executives, and the announcement of the executive declaration.

Ko Beomseok, co-chair of the event, said, “I would first like to express my gratitude to Mayor Baek Kyunghyun and the many citizens who honored us with their presence at this launch ceremony,” adding, “We will do our utmost to ensure that projects related to Galmae-dong, such as the GTX-B Galmae Station stop and the extension of the Myeonmok Line, can proceed quickly and smoothly through Guri’s incorporation into Seoul.”

Lee Sangbae, co-chair of the Pan-Citizen Committee, stated, “Today’s event marks an important first step toward achieving our shared goal of Guri’s incorporation into Seoul,” and emphasized, “Enacting a support ordinance is essential to facilitate the effective activities of civic organizations working toward this goal, which is the wish of our citizens.”

Baek Kyunghyun, mayor of Guri, said, “I sincerely congratulate you on the launch of the Guri-Seoul Integration Promotion Committee,” adding, “Guri’s incorporation into Seoul will be a driving force to enhance our city’s competitiveness. If citizens and the administration work together with the mindset of ‘taking the initiative gives us an advantage (seonjeukjein),’ we will surely see results. I will mobilize all administrative resources during my term to ensure that Guri can be incorporated into Seoul.”
