MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) is a personality test that classifies personalities into 16 types. It expresses an individual's personality using a combination of four elements: extraversion/introversion, sensing/intuition, thinking/feeling, and judging/perceiving, resulting in a four-letter combination.

Extraverts (E) prefer lively interactions and active trips, while introverts (I) favor quiet and peaceful journeys. Sensing types (S) enjoy practical and well-planned travel, whereas intuitive types (N) value creativity and new experiences.

Thinking types (T) like logical and efficient travel, while feeling types (F) prefer emotionally rich trips that emphasize relationships. Judging types (J) favor systematic planning, and perceiving types (P) tend to enjoy free and spontaneous travel.

Reflecting these MBTI tendencies, Gwangyang City has divided travel courses into four types: Analyst, Explorer, Diplomat, and Sentinel, and has proposed representative tourist attractions in Gwangyang tailored to each type of traveler.

The Analyst type includes INTP, INTJ, ENTJ, and ENTP, who are logical and analytical travelers. For them, destinations with significant historical meaning are suitable. Gwangyang City recommends places where visitors can explore history and culture, such as the Yun Dongju Manuscript Preservation Jeong Byeonguk House, Maechon Hwang Hyeon Birthplace, Gwangyang History and Culture Center, and Gwangyang Gimsi Site.

The Explorer type includes ISTP, ISFP, ESFP, and ESTP, who are adventurous and highly curious travelers. Since they prefer thrilling activities, destinations such as the Gwangyang Zipline 'Seomjingang Byeolbit Sky', Wood Culture Experience Center, Gwangyang Eco Park, and Gwangyang Booyoung International Skating Rink are recommended for their challenging and active experiences.

The Diplomat type includes INFJ, INFP, ENFJ, and ENFP, who are emotional and enjoy contemplation. For these travelers, Gwangyang City recommends healing spaces that stimulate the senses, such as Baeraldo Island Garden, Yun Dongju Poetry Garden, Inseori Park, Gwangyang Art Warehouse, Yi Sunshin Bridge, Baegunsan Natural Recreation Forest, and Yudang Park.

Lastly, the Sentinel type includes ISTJ, ISFJ, ESTJ, and ESFJ, who prefer planned and stable trips. Since they want courses with few variables and systematic sightseeing, places such as Gubongsan Observatory, Jeonnam Provincial Art Museum, Gwangyang History and Culture Center, and Okgyeongsa Camellia Forest are suitable.

Kim Miran, head of the Tourism Division, said, "We hope that these MBTI-type-based travel recommendations will be helpful when planning a trip to Gwangyang," and added, "Recommendations based on personality types are not absolute, and unexpected things can happen even in well-planned schedules. If you visit Gwangyang with the flexibility to enjoy changes, you will be able to experience a dynamic journey that stimulates all your senses."
