On the last day of the six-day Lunar New Year holiday, Thursday the 30th, morning temperatures across most regions nationwide will drop to around -10 degrees Celsius, making it very cold.
Morning temperatures will remain below -12 degrees Celsius in areas including northern and eastern Gyeonggi, inland and mountainous regions of Gangwon, northern inland Chungnam, central and northern Chungbuk, and northern inland and northeastern mountainous areas of Gyeongbuk (around -15 degrees Celsius in some eastern Gyeonggi and inland and mountainous Gangwon). Strong winds will also blow, causing the wind chill to feel even colder.
The morning low temperatures are forecasted to range from -17 to -1 degrees Celsius, and daytime highs from -4 to 8 degrees Celsius. The sky will be mostly cloudy nationwide, but Gangwon Yeongseo, Chungnam, Jeolla regions, and Jeju Island will experience occasional heavy clouds.
On the west coast of Chungnam, southern inland Chungnam, and Jeonbuk, about 1 cm of snow is expected to fall between dawn and morning. The expected precipitation in these areas is around 1 mm.
With heavy snow having accumulated in most regions nationwide and subzero temperatures continuing, the accumulated snow will freeze, creating icy roads and black ice in many places, so special caution is required for traffic safety.
Fine dust levels are expected to be 'moderate' across all regions. However, the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon Yeongseo, Chungcheong region, Honam region, and Jeju area will experience 'bad' levels in the morning.
Sea waves will be 0.5 to 2.5 meters in the East Sea nearshore waters, and 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the West Sea and South Sea nearshore waters.
Wave heights in the offshore waters (about 200 km from the coastline) are expected to be 1.5 to 5.0 meters in the East Sea, 0.5 to 2.5 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 3.0 meters in the South Sea.
