A man in his 50s who was driving under the influence dragged a police officer who was conducting a crackdown while fleeing in his car.


According to an MBN news report on the 28th, the Wansan Police Station in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, apprehended a driver who was driving under the influence around 8 p.m. the previous day on a four-lane road near Wansan-gu Office in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do.

At the time of the incident, the suspect, Mr. A, in his 50s, was inside a Mercedes-Benz sedan. He fled about 200 meters while dragging a police officer conducting the DUI crackdown by the window. Mr. A's vehicle stopped after hitting an SUV that was waiting at a traffic light at an intersection, and he was arrested at the scene.


The police are investigating Mr. A on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving) and obstruction of official duties. Although Mr. A showed a blood alcohol level high enough for license cancellation, he reportedly refused the police's breathalyzer test results and requested a blood test.


The police officer who was dragged by Mr. A's vehicle and the driver of the SUV involved in the accident were reported to have not been seriously injured. The police have booked Mr. A and are investigating the specific circumstances of the incident.
