Large-scale Cleanup Conducted in Imun4 Redevelopment Area to Address Relocation Waste
Illegal Dumping and Bulk Waste Removed, Followed by District-wide Environmental Patrol by Vehicle

On the 27th, a major cleanup was carried out in the Imun4 redevelopment area in Dongdaemun-gu.
The Imun4 area has been a site of ongoing resident complaints due to waste generated during the redevelopment relocation period (Nov. 2024 to May 2025). Approximately 50 environmental officers, including Dongdaemun-gu Mayor Lee Pil-hyung, worked hard to clean up illegally dumped trash and large waste items within the area.
At 9 a.m., Mayor Lee and staff gathered at the Imun1-dong Community Center and walked from the ‘I-gyeong Market Samgeori’ intersection through the back road of Jeonghalin Mart to Imun Samik Apartments, collecting waste that harms the urban environment and causes inconvenience to residents.
They also guided residents on proper waste separation methods and the crackdown on illegal dumping, urging them to participate in creating a cleaner neighborhood.
After the major cleanup of the Imun4 area, the district inspected other parts of Dongdaemun-gu, including Jangan-dong, Jeonnong-dong, and Hoegi-dong, by vehicle to identify areas needing environmental maintenance.
Mayor Lee Pil-hyung of Dongdaemun-gu said, “I sincerely thank the environmental officers and cleaning administration staff who worked hard to make Dongdaemun-gu pleasant despite it being a holiday,” and added, “Let us work together to minimize residents’ inconvenience and provide a better living environment.”
