Gwangju City announced on the 27th that it will openly recruit members for the 10th Gwangju Youth Committee until the 5th of next month.
The recruitment is open to young people aged 19 to 39 who currently reside in Gwangju and are interested in youth issues, including students, youth activists, young entrepreneurs, office workers, and job seekers. The number of recruits will be up to 35 people.
Applicants can check the announcements on the Gwangju City website and the Gwangju Youth Integrated Platform, fill out the application form, and submit it via email by the 5th of next month.
The 10th Youth Committee will be composed of a total of 50 members, including 35 newly selected through this recruitment and 15 from the 9th Youth Committee who have decided to continue their term.
For one year, youth committee members will gather opinions from local youth, propose policies, seek solutions to youth issues, participate in various municipal affairs, present diverse youth policies, and engage in exchanges with domestic and international youth organizations.
Kwon Yoonsook, Director of Youth Policy, said, "The Youth Committee is an organization that guarantees youth participation in municipal affairs and operates to reflect youth opinions in city administration. I hope that young people interested in youth policy will actively participate and help create effective youth policies together."
Meanwhile, since 2015, Gwangju City has been operating the Youth Committee, the first among local governments nationwide. Until last year, the city supported the activities of the 9th Youth Committee and, to date, has proposed 39 outstanding youth policies that have been reflected in city administration.
