Cloudy Skies in the Seoul Metropolitan Area, Chungcheong, and Jeolla Regions
On the second day of the Lunar New Year holiday and Sunday, the 26th, the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong region, and Jeolla region will be mostly cloudy, while Gangwon Province, Gyeongsang region, and Jeju Island will be mostly overcast.
Until dawn, rain or snow is expected in the eastern coastal and mountainous areas of Gangwon, the eastern coastal and northeastern mountainous areas of North Gyeongsang, Busan, Ulsan, and Jeju Island. Expected snowfall amounts until dawn are 1 to 5 cm in the Gangwon mountains and Jeju mountains, and around 1 cm in the northeastern mountains of North Gyeongsang. Expected precipitation amounts are less than 5 mm in the eastern coastal and mountainous areas of Gangwon, Busan, Ulsan, the eastern coastal and northeastern mountainous areas of North Gyeongsang, and Jeju Island.
From late afternoon, Jeju Island will occasionally experience rain (mountain rain or snow), and from night, rain or snow may fall in Gangwon Province. In the eastern part of Gyeonggi Province, less than 0.1 cm of snow may fall at night.
The morning low temperatures are forecasted to be between -5 and 5 degrees Celsius, and the daytime high temperatures between 5 and 11 degrees Celsius. As temperatures rise during the day, ice on rivers and lakes will become thinner and may break, so caution is advised to prevent accidents.
Fine dust levels are expected to be 'good' nationwide.
In Jeju Island (excluding mountainous areas and the western coast), where a strong wind advisory is in effect, winds will be very strong with gusts exceeding 70 km/h until the afternoon. Strong winds with gusts around 55 km/h are also expected along the southern coast and the eastern coastal areas of Gyeongsang Province.
In the southern East Sea, the open sea of the South Sea, the eastern coastal waters of Busan and Geoje City, and the waters around Jeju Island, winds will blow very strongly at speeds of 30 to 60 km/h, causing high waves.
Sea waves are expected to be 1.0 to 3.5 meters in the coastal waters of the East Sea, 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the coastal waters of the West Sea, and 0.5 to 3.5 meters in the coastal waters of the South Sea. In the inner open sea (open sea within approximately 200 km from the coastline), wave heights are predicted to be 1.0 to 3.5 meters in the East Sea, 0.5 to 2.5 meters in the West Sea, and 1.5 to 4.0 meters in the South Sea.
