Fires Break Out Across the Country
No Significant Casualties Reported
On the first day of the Lunar New Year holiday, the 25th, fires broke out in various parts of the country.
At around 6:26 a.m. that day, a fire broke out at a pigsty in Yeongi-myeon, Sejong City. The fire killed 20 sows and 200 piglets. The fire burned down the entire 160㎡ sandwich panel structure pigsty and was extinguished in about 30 minutes.

At around 10:35 a.m. that day, a fire broke out on a 250-ton barge near Namhang in Hangdong 7-ga, Jung-gu, Incheon. The fire was extinguished after 1 hour and 12 minutes. There were no casualties, but the engine room and other parts inside the hull were burned, and black smoke spread around. The fire authorities deployed 42 firefighters and 14 pieces of equipment, including pump trucks, to the scene.
At around 10:41 a.m., a fire broke out in a furniture factory warehouse in Jinjeop-eup, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi Province. The fire authorities once issued a Level 2 response and controlled the major flames in two and a half hours. There were no reported casualties.
A fire also broke out in a mountain in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi Province. At around 11:41 a.m., a fire broke out near the summit of Baekgok-ri mountain in Mado-myeon, Hwaseong-si, damaging about 33,000㎡ of forest including trees. The fire authorities issued a Level 1 response and deployed four helicopters, extinguishing the major fire at around 2:03 p.m.
At around 11:57 a.m., a fire occurred in a mountain in Baekandong, Dong-gu, Daegu. Fire and forestry authorities deployed six helicopters, 33 vehicles, and 96 personnel, extinguishing the fire in about an hour and 30 minutes. No significant casualties were reported from this fire.
At around 1:29 p.m., a fire broke out in a yard of an interior store in Hakik-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon. As the fire spread to nearby multi-family houses, residents temporarily evacuated outside, but no casualties occurred. The fire authorities deployed 72 firefighters and 24 pieces of equipment, including pump trucks, and extinguished the fire at 2:01 p.m., 32 minutes after it started.
At around 1:31 p.m., a fire broke out in a mountain in Gapcheon-myeon, Hoengseong-gun, Gangwon Province, and was extinguished in about an hour. The fire and forestry authorities completed the initial suppression (a stage where the fire is controlled and there is no risk of further spread) at around 2:36 p.m. No casualties were reported from this fire.
