Diverse Exhibitions and Productions Prepared for the International Event

Jeollanam-do is putting all its efforts into ensuring the successful hosting of the '2026 Yeosu World Island Expo,' including significantly increasing its support budget for the event.
The 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo is being prepared with the goal of attracting 3 million visitors from 30 countries around the world, and will be held in Yeosu from September 5 to November 4, 2026, for a period of two months.
The main venue will be Jinmo District in Dolsan, Yeosu, while the sub-venues will include the Yeosu World Expo site, Gaedo, Geumodo, and others.
In addition to a direct project budget of 24.8 billion KRW, Jeollanam-do is providing an additional 42.8 billion KRW in support, preparing a diverse range of exhibitions and production content befitting an international event.
At the main venue, there will be a theme pavilion embodying the concept 'Islands: Connecting the Sea and the Future,' an Island Ecology Pavilion showcasing the crisis and recovery of islands and their healing power, an Island Culture Pavilion presenting the humanities, social resources, and diversity of islands, an Island Future Pavilion introducing the limitless possibilities of islands, and an Island Community Pavilion sharing the value and future of islands worldwide.
Additionally, there will be an Island Market Pavilion exhibiting and selling island specialty products, a Maritime Transport Special Pavilion showcasing the history of bridges connecting islands around the world, and an Island Playground where visitors can experience and relax with island play culture. In total, eight exhibition halls and two special exhibition halls with a special performance stage and food court zone are planned.
At the sub-venue Yeosu World Expo site, the World Island City Conference will bring together Pacific island nations and global island cities to discuss sustainable island development and policy. The International Island Forum will address the crises and solutions facing islands due to climate change, and the World Fishing Village Conference will discuss sustainable fishing village development.
On Gaedo, an Island Fishing Village Culture Center, Manyeomok Park, and an island camping site will be established, along with experiences in marine leisure sports such as dragon boat, canoe, and kayak, traditional island liquor tastings, a musical performance based on the Manyeomok legend passed down in Gaedo, and an island food village.
On Geumodo, the five courses of the Bireonggil trail, totaling 18.5 km, will host an island trekking stamp tour event. There will also be unique experiences and attractions such as Haenyeo's Kitchen, Some Camping Package, and media art.
In addition, ten core contents incorporating cutting-edge technology will be prepared. These include the Immersive Media Tunnel at the main venue, demonstrations of Urban Air Mobility (UAM), Yeosu Island WIG (Wing-in-Ground) Craft Tours, island coastal cruises, Birth Island theme tours, island legend theater performances, the creation of a K-Media Island Park, and the establishment of an Island Expo landmark.
