Previously, Kim Heung-guk was involved in controversies related to drunk driving and hit-and-run incidents. In April 2021, he was accused of hitting a motorcycle while driving a sports utility vehicle (SUV) at an intersection in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, and leaving the scene without handling the accident. It was reported that the motorcycle driver injured his leg in the accident.
At the time, Kim Heung-guk claimed, "I was also surprised, but since it was a situation where we might not see each other, I thought nothing serious happened and passed by," adding, "It is definitely not a hit-and-run." However, the court sentenced him to a fine of 7 million won in November of the same year. Additionally, Kim Heung-guk had previously caused controversies for drunk driving in 1997 and 2013.
Meanwhile, Kim Heung-guk is considered a representative 'conservative right-wing celebrity.' On the 2nd, he attended a rally titled 'Prevent Illegal Arrest in Front of President Yoon Seok-youl’s Residence' held near the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, where he expressed unwavering support for President Yoon. At the time, he praised President Yoon, saying, "How hard must it be for President Yoon living in the residence every day? I saw a letter yesterday, and who else would fight to the end thanks to you all? Where is a president who has done as well as this person in two and a half years?"
