Tesla, Hyundai·Kia, BYD (Biyadi), and others are conducting recalls in China.
On the 24th, the State Administration for Market Regulation of China disclosed the recall plans of major automobile companies, including these companies, on its website.
Tesla is recalling 871,087 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles produced in China from January 3, 2022, to September 23, 2023, due to steering system issues. Additionally, 335,716 vehicles including imported Model S and Model X, as well as China-produced Model 3 and Model Y produced from July 16, 2023, to December 14, 2024, are also included due to rear camera problems.
Tesla plans to distribute software updates, and for models that cannot receive updates remotely, it will provide free parts replacement guidance. Bloomberg reported that the approximately 1.2 million Tesla electric vehicles subject to this recall represent about half of the total number sold in China as of the end of 2024.
Hyundai Motor (China) will recall 69,208 Kia Sorento, 8,629 Borrego (Mohave), 4,282 Carens, 3,306 Cadenza, 371 Soul, and 30 K9 vehicles.
Jiangsu Weda Kia reportedly submitted a recall plan for a total of 400,000 vehicles, including 211,797 Sportage produced from July 8, 2010, to August 20, 2014, and 180,401 K5 produced from January 5, 2011, to September 29, 2015.
The authorities stated that issues with the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) are the main reasons for the Hyundai·Kia recalls.
Xiaomi and BYD are also recalling 30,931 and 6,843 electric vehicles, respectively.
Xiaomi is recalling some SU7 models produced from February 6 to November 26 last year due to potential performance deficiencies in the parking assist system. In addition, BMW, Volkswagen, Dongfeng Honda, and others have also announced recall plans.
