The Special Investigation Headquarters for Emergency Martial Law under the prosecution announced on the 24th that it had applied to the Seoul Central District Court for an extension of the detention period on the 23rd, the day it took over the investigation of President Yoon Seok-yeol from the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials.

Earlier, the Corruption Investigation Office had requested and obtained an arrest and detention warrant for President Yoon from the Seoul Western District Court, but the prosecution applied for an extension of the detention period to the Seoul Central District Court, which has jurisdiction over trials at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office. The court's decision is expected to be made as early as the same day.
