Gyeonggi Province will activate Emergency Level 1 of the Gyeonggi Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters starting at 6 a.m. on the 27th, as heavy snowfall is forecast across the province from the morning to daytime during the Lunar New Year holiday period.
On the 24th, Gyeonggi Province announced that Governor Kim Dong-yeon sent an official letter to the 31 cities and counties, emphasizing ▲ thorough prevention of safety accidents for residents through situation management in preparation for snowfall during the holiday period ▲ best efforts to ensure residents' safety during the holiday by conducting pre-snow removal work and preventing safety accidents caused by road icing ▲ pre-inspection of facilities at risk of collapse before the holiday and pre-evacuation measures in case of heavy snow accumulation posing collapse risks.
In the letter, Governor Kim Dong-yeon urged thorough pre-snow removal work to prevent safety accidents for residents, including those returning home or traveling during the holiday, as temperatures are expected to drop sharply after snowfall from the 27th to the 29th, causing icy roads.
The Emergency Level 1 system of the Gyeonggi Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters is led by the head of the Natural Disasters Division of Gyeonggi Province and staffed by a total of 13 personnel from the road, transportation, and agriculture sectors.
Earlier, Gyeonggi Province held a “Snowstorm and Cold Wave Response Status Inspection Meeting” chaired by Kim Seong-jung, the first deputy governor of administration, with deputy heads of the 31 cities and counties in attendance.
