Two Consortiums Submit Bids on the 20th
Construction Could Begin as Early as March
With the appearance of bidders for the Cheonan Station expansion and renovation project on the Gyeongbu Line, which had failed four consecutive times due to reasons such as the construction market downturn, it is expected that groundbreaking could take place as early as March.
According to Cheonan City, two consortiums submitted bids on the deadline for the Korea National Railway PQ (Pre-Qualification) on the 20th.
The price bidding is scheduled for the 20th of next month, and construction is expected to begin as early as March after the contract is signed.
The construction period is set for 37 months, with completion anticipated in the first half of 2028.
Previously, the corporation announced the bid at a projected cost of 69,870,870,000 KRW, but it failed three consecutive times.
In September last year, the bid was re-announced at an increased unit price of 76,834,620,000 KRW, but no bidders appeared.
Meanwhile, the total budget for the expansion and renovation project is 112.1 billion KRW, with 29.9 billion KRW from the national government, 20 billion KRW from the provincial government, and 62.2 billion KRW from the city government.
