Hwang Byeong-woo, iM Bank CEO, Receives 'ESG Best Executive Award'... "Committed to Building a Responsible Financial Institution"

iM Bank announced on the 24th that CEO Hwang Byung-woo received the ‘ESG CEO Award’ presented by the Korea Financial Management Association (President Jung Moo-kwon).

The Korea Financial Management Association, which presented this award, is an organization that has been leading academic research in the fields of finance and financial management for over 40 years since its founding. It is composed of more than 70 institutions, including the Financial Supervisory Service, and over 900 practitioners. Through regular academic conferences and symposiums, it discusses major issues in the financial industry and capital markets and proposes solutions.

Since his appointment in 2023, CEO Hwang Byung-woo has been recognized for his efforts in establishing an ESG management system and promoting related projects, including the creation of a dedicated organization and the establishment and revision of ESG work regulations, focusing on building a management framework. For these efforts, he was awarded the ‘ESG CEO Award’ this year.

After transitioning to a commercial bank in 2024, he has carried out even more proactive ESG management activities. He signed an ‘ESG Green Finance Support Business Agreement’ with the Korea Technology Finance Corporation and launched related products to accelerate the activation of a sustainable financial ecosystem through green finance support. At the same time, through ESG finance, he is strengthening financial services for socially vulnerable groups and financial consumers and developing financial products, thereby fulfilling the social responsibility of financial institutions.

He is also evaluated to have established a systematic ESG management infrastructure, including the development of an integrated ESG management system and the establishment of an ESG disclosure evaluation response system.
