Kwon Young-se, People Power Party Emergency Committee Chairman, Also Says "We Will Work Hard"
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, ahead of the Lunar New Year, visited the jjokbangchon (small room village) and responded to calls for the swift promotion of the public housing project by saying, "We will do so."
On the 24th, Mayor Oh visited the Seoul Station jjokbangchon with Kwon Young-se, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, to support livelihood stability during the Lunar New Year holiday. At the site, residents held placards and demanded, "It has been four years since the announcement of the Dongja-dong public rental housing project, but the district has not even been designated, and progress is sluggish," adding, "Public housing is livelihood. Please implement it immediately."
As the residents shouted for attention, Mayor Oh said, "We will do so," adding, "This project is an LH Corporation project. The Emergency Committee Chairman is here today, and since LH is under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, I believe you can speak to the Ministry and they will be able to assist."
Chairman Kwon also responded to the residents' demands by saying, "I am well aware," and "We will work hard so that (the residents) can benefit quickly."
On the same day, Mayor Oh and Chairman Kwon visited the Dongja-dong Ongi Warehouse and Our Neighborhood Oral Care Center to encourage the staff. The Ongi Warehouse is a kind of food market where jjokbangchon residents can autonomously select and take necessary items within the limit of their individually allocated savings. Our Neighborhood Oral Care Center is a free dental clinic operating in the jjokbangchon.
At the Ongi Warehouse, Mayor Oh also mentioned the public housing project. He said, "Systems like the Ongi Warehouse are working well, and since housing is the most important, if we discuss what the residents mentioned earlier with LH Corporation and resolve it, it will be a great help to those in need."
In response, Chairman Kwon said, "Mayor Oh is very interested, and I am also very interested," adding, "The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is making efforts, and LH is working hard, so results will come."
