Artist United (CEO Hwang Kyung-joo) announced on the 24th that it will actively promote new AI business centered on the domestic B2B market in collaboration with global AI startup Perplexity.
This collaboration is attracting attention as it also opens up the possibility of expanding into the B2C market in the future. The goal is to introduce Perplexity's advanced AI search technology tailored to the Korean market, develop customized solutions, and provide new value to domestic companies, while keeping the door open to offering innovative services to general consumers later on.
Perplexity is a company that gained industry attention at once by launching its AI search engine service in 2022. It attracted large-scale investments from prominent global investors such as NVIDIA, SoftBank, and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and was valued at $9 billion (approximately 13 trillion KRW) as of last year. Currently recognized as a leader in the global AI market, its technological capabilities are expected to open up great potential in the Korean market as well.
The collaboration between Perplexity and Artist United began with the visit of Perplexity founder and CEO Aravind Srinivas to Korea in September last year. CEO Srinivas discussed collaboration possibilities with Artist United's internal director Lee Jung-jae, which led to the establishment of a concrete business direction. Both companies agreed to develop services tailored to the Korean market based on Perplexity's AI search engine technology, with Artist United leading the domestic marketing strategy.
Currently, the two companies are developing specialized services in four areas based on Perplexity's AI search engine API: commerce, online advertising, marketing, and entertainment. They aim to provide efficient customized solutions to corporate clients and intuitive, innovative experiences to general consumers.
In particular, they focus on supporting companies' digital transformation (DX) by offering segmented solutions such as personalized marketing messages, customized shopping experiences, and optimized content recommendations. In this process, Artist United is expected to actively utilize its technical sales capabilities to strengthen competitiveness.
In the commerce sector, they plan to introduce an AI-based conversational product search service. This service goes beyond simple keyword searches by precisely analyzing user intent and providing customized results including product names, images, and descriptions.
In the online advertising sector, they will launch an easy ad setup service using AI chatbots. The goal is to greatly improve user convenience by simplifying the previously complex manual setup process. Additionally, in the marketing and entertainment sectors, they are developing functions that allow searching for related content using only specific scenes, keywords, or characters' lines. This will enable more precise targeting and customized services.
Artist United has distinguished itself in content production and entertainment management while accumulating experience operating advertising platforms utilizing big data and AI. These technological efforts have contributed to strengthening data analysis and technical expertise. This data analysis and technology-based expertise play a crucial role in enhancing AI-based solution development and marketing strategies in this collaboration.
An Artist United official stated, "The collaboration with Perplexity will not merely involve technology adoption but will lead to the development of customized AI solutions for domestic companies," adding, "We will provide differentiated services based on world-class global technology."
Meanwhile, this collaboration is expected to serve as a stepping stone for Artist United to lead new innovations in the domestic AI solution market. By meeting diverse demands such as personalized marketing messages, customized shopping experiences, and optimized content recommendations, it is anticipated to strengthen its position in the domestic market.
