Guro-gu Operates Two 'Uri Dongne Pet Boarding Centers' for Vulnerable Groups

Guro-gu will operate the ‘Our Neighborhood Pet Boarding Service’ for vulnerable groups starting from the 27th of this month.

‘Our Neighborhood Pet Boarding Service’ is a pet care service that allows pet owners to safely entrust their pets to professional boarding facilities when it is difficult to care for them due to long-term outings, hospitalization, etc. This service is being introduced in Guro-gu for the first time this year.

The district has designated two pet boarding facilities, Dangdangs (Orillo 1181) and Guro Danaeun Animal Hospital (Sindorim-ro 7), and will support the costs of boarding for dogs and cats of vulnerable groups.

The support targets vulnerable groups residing in Guro-gu (△basic livelihood security recipients △near-poverty class △single-parent families, etc.), and pets can be boarded for up to 10 days. However, usage is subject to confirmation of whether the pet can be boarded at each facility (vaccination status, weight, etc.). Additional costs exceeding the support criteria must be borne by the pet owner.

Those who wish to use the pet boarding service must submit the pet owner’s ID and proof of eligibility (△certificate of recipient △near-poverty class confirmation △single-parent family certificate, etc.) to the pet boarding facility to entrust their pets.

Additionally, pets must be registered, and vaccination requirements set by the pet boarding facility must be met.

A Guro-gu official said, “Our Neighborhood Pet Boarding Service is designed so that vulnerable residents can safely entrust their pets even in unexpected situations,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to improve animal welfare so that residents can live happily with their pets.”

Furthermore, during the Lunar New Year holiday (starting from the 27th), only Dangdangs will operate, and Guro Danaeun Animal Hospital will begin operations from the 3rd of next month. Due to high demand during the holiday period, it is advised to check availability with the pet boarding facilities in advance.
