The Urban Agriculture Committee was established to discuss key policies and project plans for revitalizing urban agriculture and to develop a citizen participation-based urban agriculture model. The meeting was attended by various stakeholders, including Vice Mayor Hong Ji-seon, urban agriculture experts, and representatives of civic groups.

The meeting proceeded with sharing last year’s urban agriculture activity achievements through a video, followed by reviewing and approving the 2025 project plans and major agenda items. Participants shared perspectives from various fields and engaged in constructive discussions.

In particular, the pilot operation of the ‘Changhyeon Permaculture Garden’ attracted great interest from the attendees. This project is an urban garden model based on a natural cyclical agricultural method aimed at responding to the climate crisis and preserving the environment, presenting new possibilities for ecological education and citizen healing spaces.

Namyangju City plans to cultivate citizen leaders through the ‘Changhyeon Permaculture Garden’ and expand this model to other regions to enhance the multifaceted value of urban agriculture.

Vice Mayor Hong Ji-seon stated, “Urban agriculture is an important platform that goes beyond simple agricultural activities to improve citizens’ quality of life and connect local communities. We will actively support Namyangju City to lead a new sustainable urban agriculture model.”
