Regional Coexistence Efforts Highlighted... POSCO Steelion Honored as 'Rural ESG Practice Company'

Various Initiatives to Improve Quality of Life in Rural and Fishing Communities

POSCO Steelion has been honored with the designation of 'Rural ESG Practice Recognized Company' as a result of its continuous efforts for the sustainable development of rural areas.


On the 16th, POSCO Steelion was recognized under the 'Rural ESG Practice Recognition System,' jointly hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and the Foundation for Cooperation between Large, Medium, and Small Enterprises and Agriculture and Fisheries. This award is given to companies that utilize their resources to coexist with rural areas and practice ESG management.

POSCO Steelion has carried out various activities to improve the quality of life for local residents, such as creating neighborhood parks in rural areas and supporting educational supplies for infants and young children.


In particular, the company contributed to strengthening local agricultural competitiveness by supporting a special vehicle for spraying high-quality rice nutrients in the eco-friendly rice production complexes in Gijang and Gibuk, Pohang City.


Moreover, in fishing villages, POSCO Steelion took the lead in creating a clean marine environment by conducting marine environmental cleanup activities together with the Guryongpo Fisheries Cooperative and collecting discarded fishing gear.


Cheon Si-yeol, CEO of POSCO Steelion, stated, “We will continue to expand win-win cooperation activities with rural areas and carry out practical support projects to do our best for the sustainable development of rural areas facing difficult conditions.”
