Operation of Delinquency Management Team...
Survey on Local Tax Delinquents
Financial Relief and Welfare Services for Livelihood-Type Delinquents
Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province is promoting a plan to link welfare services for livelihood-type tax delinquents through a precise investigation of delinquency status.
On the 23rd, Anseong City announced that it will operate the 'Local Tax Delinquency Management Team' from next month until the end of November to investigate the status of local tax delinquents.
The Local Tax Delinquency Management Team will investigate the reasons for delinquency, living conditions, and economic difficulties through phone or visit consultations, and will encourage continuous payment and provide visit guidance to delinquents who have the ability to pay.
On the other hand, small business owners or livelihood-type delinquents facing economic difficulties will be helped to recover financially through seizure deferral, extension of payment deadlines, and installment payments. In particular, for livelihood-type delinquents without assets, the city plans to reduce the tax burden through active suspension of collection such as bad debt disposition and link them with various welfare services including livelihood, medical, and housing support.
The city has been operating the delinquency management team since 2019. The city explained that the team has contributed to improving collection rates and creating jobs by not only collecting delinquent amounts but also discovering livelihood-type delinquents, creating public jobs, and linking welfare, and therefore decided to operate it again this year.
A city official said, "We will continue to strive to improve citizens' tax payment awareness and realize tax justice through customized collection activities based on the investigation of delinquent taxpayers' status."
