Following Fried Food and Coffee: Beer Extraction and Cocktail Making
Expanding Food and Beverage Demand with Collaborative Robots
Doosan Robotics is developing and commercializing various food and beverage (F&B) solutions using collaborative robots, such as extracting beer and making cocktails.
Doosan Robotics announced on the 23rd that it supplied a collaborative robot beer extraction solution to the Airbot Bar store located in the Ourhome Culinary Square at Incheon International Airport Terminal 2. In May last year, Doosan Robotics signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Incheon International Airport Corporation to establish a 'Digital Transformation Collaboration System.' Accordingly, the two companies have been collaborating to create a food zone targeting domestic and international tourists.

The beer extraction solution introduced at Incheon Airport performs all actions in a one-stop process, from picking up disposable cups from the tray, extracting draft beer, serving at the pickup zone, to cleaning. The collaborative robot E series, which has obtained food hygiene safety certification from the U.S. National Sanitation Foundation (NSF), was utilized. It takes about 43 seconds to pour beer into a 14-ounce cup (414 ml). Additionally, it can maintain a consistent ratio between beer and foam.
On the 15th, Doosan Robotics also supplied an AI-based collaborative robot cocktail making solution to the Lotte Duty Free store at Gimpo International Airport. The cocktail making solution analyzes subtle human facial expressions using AI technology, cameras, and sensors to classify the current emotional state into seven emotions: neutral, happiness, sadness, anger, fear, discomfort, and surprise. It then recommends a cocktail that suits each emotion and makes it directly. A total of 19 types of cocktails can be made.
A Doosan Robotics official said, "Following coffee, fried food, and noodles, we have been focusing on expanding customers by continuously diversifying food and beverage solutions using collaborative robots, including beer extraction and cocktail making this time." He added, "Unlike production and manufacturing sites, the food and beverage sector has more contact points with general customers, so we will develop solutions that provide both convenience and visual enjoyment."
