According to what was revealed through Fox News and others on that day, former President Biden left a brief letter on the so-called 'Resolute Desk' in the White House office on the 20th, stating, "As I leave this sacred office, I wish you and your family good fortune for the next four years." He continued, "In the inevitable storm of history, I hope the American people and the world find stability in the White House. I look forward to the coming years being a time of prosperity, peace, and grace for America. Just as God has blessed and guided America since its founding, I hope He guides and blesses you."
The day before, President Trump commented on Biden's letter, saying, "It was a somewhat inspiring type of letter," adding, "It was about enjoying the work and emphasizing how important this job is. I thought it was a good letter and believed it should be shown to people." When Trump left office in 2021, he also left a letter for his successor, then-President Biden. At that time, Biden said, "Former President Trump left a very generous letter," but the contents were not disclosed.
However, earlier, President Trump directly criticized the previous administration in front of President Biden, who had congratulated him at the inauguration. He stated, "Our government is in a crisis of trust. For a long time, a corrupt establishment has exploited the people's power and wealth, and the social foundation has collapsed and become desolate," adding, "The government has failed to properly manage domestic issues and is shaken by a series of disastrous events abroad." President Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris showed somber expressions in response to Trump's remarks.
