Establishment of 11-Bed Specialized Negative Pressure Ward
Seoul City is set to invest over 28 billion KRW to officially commence the modernization project of Eunpyeong Hospital.
On the 23rd, Seoul City announced that it will undertake the remodeling project of Seoul Eunpyeong Hospital to strengthen the role of public healthcare.
Approximately 28.5 billion KRW will be invested in the remodeling project, which will transform the hospital into a total area of 8,136㎡ spanning from basement level 1 to the 6th floor above ground. The remodeling will begin this month and continue for 18 months, aiming for completion in June 2026. Eunpyeong Hospital will continue to operate without interruption during the remodeling to ensure convenience for citizens.
The remodeling will include the establishment of a specialized negative pressure ward at Eunpyeong Hospital. The negative pressure ward will be located on the 4th floor of the hospital and consist of two single rooms and three triple rooms, totaling 11 beds.
Upon completion, patients with mental illnesses suffering from new infectious diseases such as COVID-19 will be able to receive safe treatment.
An optimized medical environment will also be created. The basement level 1 will house a multipurpose room and medical records room; the 1st floor will include outpatient clinics, pharmacy, rehabilitation department, and radiology department. The 2nd floor will be designed as a book caf? and outdoor landscaping space, while the 3rd to 5th floors will contain general wards and the negative pressure ward. The 6th floor will feature an auditorium.
The hospital’s exterior will also be newly renovated. Seoul City plans to use white and green colors to harmonize with the surrounding environment while enhancing a positive image of mental health medical institutions.
Ahn Dae-hee, Director of Seoul City’s Urban Infrastructure Headquarters, stated, “Through the Eunpyeong Hospital modernization project, we expect to provide citizens with specialized mental health medical services and respond swiftly to infectious disease crises.”
