Jeongeup City, Naejangsan National Park Selected as One of Korea's Top 100 Tourist Attractions

"Developing Products Utilizing Local Resources...
Strengthening Efforts to Attract Tourists"

Naejangsan National Park in Jeongeup, North Jeolla Province, has been selected as one of the "2025-2026 Korea Tourism Top 100" destinations by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization.

According to the city on the 22nd, the "Korea Tourism Top 100" is a project that selects 100 must-visit destinations in Korea for both Koreans and foreigners every two years, and this is its seventh edition.

Naejangsan was recognized not only as a famous autumn foliage spot but also as an attractive destination that encompasses nature and history throughout all four seasons. The city stated that Naejangsan National Park's selection for the Tourism Top 100 for six consecutive years is the result of active tourism resource development and promotional efforts.

The city has consistently developed various tourism content centered around Naejangsan to attract visitors. Last year, as part of efforts to create Naejangsan-specialized local cuisine, the city collaborated with star chef Lee Wonil to launch "Beoseotdonyukkal" and "Deungppeobeoseotkongtang," dishes made with local ingredients such as pork, beans, and mushrooms from Jeongeup. In addition, to move beyond Naejangsan's image as only a fall foliage destination and to brand it as a year-round tourist spot, the city worked with a trekking travel agency to develop the "Naejangsan Hidden Road" tour package, which received a great response.

Infrastructure projects to attract family tourists are also ongoing. As part of tourism development linked to Naejangsan, the city is transforming the cultural plaza near Naejang Lake into a complex experiential tourism hub. Since last year, a circular train has been operating at the cultural plaza, and efforts continue to create family-friendly healing spaces such as a cultural heritage visitor center and a "miracle playground."

Meanwhile, to coincide with this selection, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold a nationwide visitor certification event for the "2025-2026 Korea Tourism Top 100" during the Lunar New Year holiday. Main programs include the "Seolprise Certification Photo Event" and a special travel review event, with various prizes provided through a draw for participants. Details on how to participate can be found on the Korea Tourism Organization's official website and the "Korea Tourism Top 100" Instagram account.

In the first half of this year, a "Traveler's Passport" featuring the "Korea Tourism Top 100" will be released, and a nationwide stamp tour will be operated. At the end of the year, an awards ceremony will be held for those who have visited the most destinations to further promote domestic tourism.

Mayor Lee Haksoo stated, "Naejangsan National Park is a place where sustainable tourism is possible in line with recent trends such as wellness and healing," adding, "We will continue to develop attractive tourism products utilizing Jeongeup's diverse resources and strengthen efforts to attract visitors so that Naejangsan can serve as a gateway to Jeongeup tourism."
