Baekma Hwasarang to Reopen in March
Applications Accepted on Onbid Until February 4
Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 22nd that it will publicly recruit a business operator to run the cafe space within Baekma Hwasarang through the electronic asset disposal system (Onbid) until February 4.
Located at the entrance of Anigol in Pungdong, Baekma Hwasarang is equipped with various facilities including a spacious front yard and parking lot, a windbreak room, a stage with sound equipment, a cafe space, a multipurpose room, a storage room, and a backyard with parking for the disabled.
Baekma Hwasarang began in the 1980s as a hideout for youth and has been operated as a lifelong learning center in Goyang City as well as a cafe where various cultural activities such as reading sessions and concerts take place.
The city is publicly recruiting a cafe operator to revitalize the self-sustainability of Baekma Hwasarang and ensure efficient management.
The successful bidder will be able to operate various programs at Baekma Hwasarang in consultation with Goyang City, including opening coffee classes and hosting coffee-related workshops and seminars.
Eligibility for the cafe operator is open to individuals or corporations with an address in Goyang City, and the final operating rights will be awarded to the applicant who offers the highest bid among the participants.
The operation period is two years from the date of permission to use, and more detailed information can be found on the Goyang City website or the Onbid announcement.
Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City said, “We hope for the participation of many individuals and corporations who will open new possibilities together with Baekma Hwasarang, which is scheduled to reopen in March 2025,” adding, “Goyang City will transform Baekma Hwasarang into a distinctive open community space and a complex cultural and artistic space through various collaborations with the cafe operator, making it a landmark of Goyang City.”
