The Water Festival received high marks for its efforts to grow into a global festival attracting visitors from around the world through festival exchanges with Thailand's Songkran. Content such as the Global Water World and Global Water Battle Parade, which particularly appeal to younger generations, were also highly praised.
Last year, the Jeongnamjin Jangheung Water Festival attracted about 690,000 visitors. The water of Jangheung has strengthened its meaning of healing, health, and longevity, and the festival has evolved into a more youthful and global event.
This year, the Jeongnamjin Jangheung Water Festival is scheduled to take place for nine days from July 26 to August 3, with plans to develop global killer content and further expand exchanges with other global festivals.
In particular, in April, the festival will visit the Songkran Festival in Bangkok, Thailand, to operate a promotional booth in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand. In May, it will participate in 'K-FEST 2025' held in Venice, Italy, the city of water, to promote the Water Festival in Europe as well.
Governor Kim Seong stated, "The Water Festival has established itself as a representative festival brand of Jeollanam-do and summer in Korea," and added, "We will do our best to develop the 2025 Water Festival from a representative Korean festival into a global event."
